The Mid-Cities SOS General Meeting on December 1st was a busy one with lots of conversation, gifts and fine cuisine. The lunch served by The Classic at Roanoke, one of our long time Celebrity Chefs, was exceptional.
Each year SOS members bring PJ’s and other sleepwear for the women at SafeHaven. Thanks again to the SOS members who donated the above “Comfort and Joy” items for the women living safely at SafeHaven. 3rd VP, Roxanne Holt and SOS President, Beth Battles stand in front of donated PJ’s.
Tracy Rector, Vice-Chair of SafeHaven Board of Development, spoke eloquently about her personal experiences, leading her to advocate strongly against domestic abuse. She talked about the need to change the culture and attitude of power and control and to develop prevention education programs. Tracy is an amazing woman and survivor! SOS is grateful for her passion and commitment to end domestic violence.
SOS member Jean Dodds, at right, presented over 50 knitted caps for babies living at SafeHaven. Staff members, Emily Hancock and Haley Coates, at left, were happy to deliver the caps to SafeHaven. Thank you, Jean, for your talent and generosity!
