The April 1st SOS general meeting at the Fort Worth shelter was designated as “April Showers” luncheon. A SOS donation check for approximately $2000 was presented to SafeHaven to purchase new sheets for the Arlington shelter. A similar donation for new sheets was made last year to the Fort Worth shelter. President and CEO, Mary Lee Hafley, thanked the SOS membership for this special gift for the Arlington shelter.
As part of the program, Mary Lee shared several SafeHaven statistics as well as information about the valuable services available to the clients of SafeHaven to help them begin a new life. Many exciting plans are in the works for a child care center, which will include play kitchens, a pre-school playground, and an enclosed area with windows for easy viewing of younger children.
Mary Lee also mentioned that SafeHaven will be using the funds raised at this year’s Tennis Benefit toward the purchase of a mini van, which is a much needed transportation service for the clients and their children.
